Ok, first things first. I don't own p1m. I am in the market for buying a daw controller. As I use presonus and I have been reading everywhere the Mackie implementation of studio one is poor so I decided I would just go with a faderport and be done with it as I hate bugs and incompatibilities and there is so much I can do myself about this stuff cause I am not a software engineer also I have no idea about scripting! I can open script files and see what they write and make changes to the best of my ability and if something is simple enough and I am also lucky it will work otherwise no cookie for me!
So I came across your script and my mind was blown away! What u did is better than presonus own faderport implementation! Heck the thing you can assign also faders and buttons in plug in control how did u even think of that! Dude you are a real legend!
So here comes my dilemma. They always say buy the thing for what it is now and not what it can be later. Ok it doesn't exactly apply cause now u made it a super controller! But what I mean is you are just one person at the end of the day, you got your own problems, family, daw preferences also change and so many things can happen. Tomorrow maybe presonus makes an update and break your script, then if u for whatever reason are incabable of supporting this script then I would wish I had gotten a faderport instead!
Anyway, even though I don't have any P1M at the moment and I don't even know if I am gonna be getting one! Just to show my admiration to all your work I will donate something cause man u deserve it! And this forum should have way way more people. You gave people what companies should be doing at the first place!

Hi Demetris,
Thanks for the donation. It's very kind of you considering you're not using the script
The current state of DAW controller compatibility is very poor. It's shame that the Mackie protocol hasn't been updated, or that the newer open DAW control protocols (e.g. OSC) have not been more widely adopted by DAW manufacturers.
There are some great controllers being built but they are either held back by the Mackie software implementation (e.g. iCON) or locked into their own plugin ecosystem (SSL, Softube), or locked into their own DAWs (Presonus, Avid). It's not a good situation for consumers.
Custom scripts like mine show what could be possible if we had an open version of something like Avid's EUCON protocol. Until then we just make the best of what's available and hope Presonus don't shut it down in the next update!
Thanks again,
Paul

You gotta wonder though, what's stopping icon and whoever else controller manufacturer doing this for all the daws they want to support. I mean it took u a few months to do that for 1 daw. Imagine a company like icon with their resources and their stuff it would be possible I think to do that for every daw
